The First Appointment of Six CIETAC Cotton Arbitrators

Source:China Cotton Association  Date: 06/May/2014

Six cotton industry experts were appointed as arbitrators by China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) recently. This is the first time for CIETAC to appoint arbitrators especially for cotton, aiming at providing more professional service to the domestic and foreign cotton trade.
As the largest cotton importer with around 3 million cotton import every year, Chinese cotton traders confronted increasing trade disputes, at the same time, many Chinese firms are not familiar with the ICA Bylaws & Rules used prevailingly in global cotton trade, and no domestic arbitration services provided for them, which hindered them from protecting their rights by way of arbitration.
Recommended by China Cotton Association, CIETAC appointed six cotton arbitrators for the first time in its history. All these six arbitrators have years of working experience in cotton industry and related legal knowledge. After passing the tests and appointed by CIETAC, they will provide arbitration or legal advice services for cotton companies.
The six arbitrators appointed by CIETAC are:
Wang Jianhong, Vice Secretary General, China Cotton Association;
Yang Zhaoliang, Vice Secretary General, China Cotton Association;
Yang Baofu, Vice General Manager, China National Cotton Exchange;
Liu Hua, General Counsel, China National Cotton Reserves Corporation
Guo Rongmin, General Manager, Beijing Cotton Outlook Consulting Co., Ltd;
Li Nan, Vice General Manager, Louis Dreyfus Commodities (Beijing) Trading Co., Ltd
