China Cotton Commercial Stock Monthly Report - January, 2014

Reserve cotton trade was suspended for Spring Festival holiday and transaction of January reduced accordingly. By the end of January, reserve purchase for 2013/14 season totaled 5.62 million ton, and released by 400,000 ton. Commercial carryover stock was composed of import cotton and Xinjiang cotton for most. The Xinjiang railway was occupied for reserve cotton transport and leaving road to commercial cotton as usual.
According to survey to 168 warehouse members of CCA cotton warehousing and logistics branch, for the month, 248,000 ton of commercial cotton, comprising of 233,000 ton in inland warehouses, and 15,000 ton in Xinjiang. The current commercial stock was reduced by 4,000 ton than last month, and 40,000 ton more Y/Y. The stock was consisted of 53% of import cotton, 35% of Xinjiang cotton and 12% of inland cotton. Calculation of national stock was 310,000 ton, simailr with last month. During this month, 19,000 ton of commercial cotton was dispatched to inland via railway from 25 Xinjiang transfer stations.
