China Cotton Commercial Carryover Stock Monthly Report - May, 2014

During the month of May, cotton purchase by textiles are still dominated by reserve cotton and import cotton, the change is reserve trade declined over last month, and commercial cotton carryover stock reduced to the lowest point over past three years. Xinjiang railways transport mainly the reserve cotton, leaving road to commercial cotton. For the month, 73,000 tons of Xinjiang cotton has been transported by road, 7,000 tons less over the month, and the cumulative volume for 2013/14 season of which is 231,000 tons.
According to survey conducted by CCA cotton logistics and warehousing branch to 181 member warehouses, by the end of May, commercial carryover cotton stock is 157,000 tons, including 142,000 tons in inland warehouses, and 15,000 tons in Xinjiang warehouses, which is 27,000 tons less than last month and 130,000 tons less than last May. The content of the carryover over stock is 45% of import cotton, 46% of Xinjiang cotton and 9% of inland cotton. Calculation based on this is nationwide the commercial carryover cotton stock is 193,000 tons, 32,000 tons less than last month. And for the month, 3,000 tons of commercial cotton has been dispatched via railway by 28 rail transfer stations in Xinjiang.
