China Cotton Situation Analysis Meeting ２００８ Held in Beijing

January 10th, the China cotton situation analysis meeting was held in Beijing. Mr. Shi Jianwei, the Executive Vice President of China Cotton Association (CCA) gave a report.
About the cotton production of 2006/07 season, he said it was 7.74 million tons. The figure of National Bureau of Statistics was 6.73 million tons, but according to the figure delivered out of Xinjiang through the railway system, the real Xinjiang's output exceeded 1 million tons than the published number. According to the investigation by CCA, the cotton production in 2007/08 will be 7.5 million tons, and the import 2.6 million tons.
About the price trend, Mr. Shi anticipated that it will be impossible a large margin rising because of the domestic demand insufficiency.
